The firmness of a foam mattress refers to its support level when the mattress applies weight to the body; in other words, its softness or firmness. Firmness is usually determined by measuring the amount of compression deformation of the foam under pressure. Firmness not only affects sleep comfort but is also closely related to the mattress's support, making it an important reference indicator when choosing a foam mattress.

Low-firm foam mattresses are softer, conforming to the body's curves, suitable for lighter individuals or those who prefer a soft feel, but their support is relatively weak and they are prone to sagging over time. Medium-firm mattresses combine softness and support, suitable for most adults, balancing comfort and spinal support. High-firm foam mattresses offer strong support, suitable for heavier individuals or those requiring long-term use, effectively maintaining the natural curve of the spine.

Choosing mattress firmness should be based on weight, sleeping posture, and personal preference. Lighter individuals or those who prefer a softer feel can choose low to medium firm mattresses; heavier individuals or those who prefer firm support should choose medium to high firm mattresses. Additionally, if you have cervical or lumbar spine issues, it is recommended to choose a mattress that provides zoned support to ensure balanced support for all parts of the body and reduce discomfort.
